My City

After attending this year's pride parade, a little thought came into my head. I've been lucky enough to attend my city's pride parade across multiple years, and I've noticed something every time. Year after year, I've never seen even a single protester at the parade. I took a moment to ponder how magnificent that is. I think at a time when hate against the queer community is on the rise, it feels good to live in such an accepting place. I love that my city appears to be accepting enough that pride can go on without anyone organizing against it. My city has always had my heart for a variety of reasons: it has some of the best food in the world, it has some of the nicest people in the world, and it has one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. I could go on and on. However, what I love the most is that this place is that we are all here for each other. I've seen how the community comes together in multiple ways, and it fills me with happiness and joy. I guess what I'm trying to say is: it feels good to know I have my city behind me, and it feels good to stand behind my city.
